Lip Trapping In Kids
Lip trapping; this is something that's really important to keep an eye out for with your children. It's not something that is going be really common, but when we see it, it's important for us to put our finger on it and I would actually recommend to treat this because of what it can actually lead to.
So what lip trapping is is where you'll see a boy or girl walking around with their lip trapped under their upper front teeth. The longer the child is lip trapping, the more comfortable it becomes for them because it's actually harder and harder as they lip trap to get their mouth naturally closed. This is because lip trapping forces the upper teeth out, which actually makes it hard to curl the lip and actually close their mouth. It also pushes the lower teeth back and the upper teeth out because the lips stuck in here and can lead to abnormal swallowing patterns.
