Sedation Options
If you've grappled with dental anxiety, the concept of sedation might pique your interest. At our clinic, we provide two distinct modes of sedation to cater to your needs. One alternative at your disposal is nitrous oxide, an inhaled gas method that we employ and administer in a clinical setting. We have found nitrous oxide to be an immensely effective means of sedation, proficient at alleviating anxiety levels, whether they are high, medium, or even low in certain instances.
We've also discovered that it's an excellent way for children to ease into dental visits, especially when they need their first filling. It provides them with a gentle introduction, ensuring a positive initial experience.
The other option available in our practice is oral sedation. With oral sedation, you should arrive at the office one hour before your appointment on an empty stomach, and we will administer the sedative orally, typically in the form of a few pills. After waiting for about an hour, you will enter a mild state of sedation, which is often a comfortable choice for patients undergoing dental procedures. For those with extreme anxiety, oral sedation can be a preferable option. It's important to note that sedation is not a one-size-fits-all solution. If you have any questions about sedation and we haven't discussed it during your exam today, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office.
